Fields pleads guilty to Child Molest charge

Rickie Fields, 63, of Versailles, pled guilty to Child Molesting, a Level 4 Felony in Ripley County Circuit Court on September 16. He was sentenced to nine years in the Indiana Department of Corrections with no time suspended. As part of the sentencing, Fields will register with the Indiana Sex Offender Registry and have no contact with the victims.

Initially Fields said he was not guilty of the crimes when he was arrested on January 24, 2025. One victim reported the abuse had gone on for about four years. The victim told police that Fields was a friend of the family and he babysat for them sometimes.

At the hearing on September 16 both victims had written letters that were presented, along with the Pre-Sentence Investigation Report. The Court found the aggravating factors outweighed the mitigating factors before sentencing Fields.
