Lady Bulldogs cruise to county supremacy
The Batesville girls golf team is Ripley County champions for a 16th-consecutive season. Batesville won by nearly 50 strokes to continue its county dominance.
Batesville girls golf filled four of the five spots on the All-County Team, boasted the individual county champion and in the midst of all that dominated its way to a repeat title at the Ripley County Girls Golf Championship on Tuesday at North Branch Golf Course.
It is the 16th-straight county championship for the Lady Bulldogs. Batesville, Jac-Cen-Del and South Ripley all fielded complete scoring teams on Tuesday.
Batesville shot a nine-hole team score of 153 and Jac-Cen-Del was runner-up at 200. South Ripley took third after totaling a 219. A tiebreaker decided the individual county champion as Batesville’s Alexis Gallagher and Stella Maple both sat at an even-par 36. The tiebreaker went the way of Gallagher, a senior, who used the win to lay claim to Ripley County MVP.
After big days from Gallagher and Maple, Grace Saner’s 40 and Adelyne Koehne’s 41 rounded out Batesville scoring and that duo also joined on the All-County Team. The final member was Jac-Cen-Del’s Claire Heilers who led her team with a 43.
Makenna Moore and Caroline Wiedeman each carded a 51 in a non-scoring round for Batesville. Jac-Cen-Del’s scoring in addition to Heilers was Maddie Bunnell with a 49, Nautia Williams at 51 and Kaylee Seymour with a 57. Lily Budd in a non-scoring round of nine holes shot a 63.

Jac-Cen-Del, Milan and South Ripley all have the Ohio River Valley Conference Championship to look forward to on Saturday at Butler Falls Golf Course in Hanover. Batesville is at Columbus East tonight and then golfs in the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday at Rising Star’s The Links.
