Caydin Davidson (No.23) and Gavin Trenkamp (No.24) celebrate in the end zone after another Milan touchdown on Friday night. Davidson and Trenkamp aided special teams with a kickoff return and punt return for a score.
Class A No. 4 Milan flexed its muscle as expected last Friday night and in doing so went out and clobbered Brown County 64-0 at home in a Mid-Indiana Football Conference matchup.
The Indians have won four in a row since a week two loss to Batesville. Friday’s victory for Milan also clinched them at least a share of the MIFC title and they can win it outright on October 9 with a win at South Decatur.
Brown County (1-5) never had a chance. Milan ended up scoring 36 points in the first quarter and added 21 more points in the second frame which forced a running clock for the entire second half of play. The Indians unloaded their bench in the final 24 minutes and added one more touchdown and extra point.
Every bit of offense for Milan was on the ground and that totaled up to 343 rushing yards. Beckett Langferman ran for 153 yards and two touchdowns on only three carries while Logan Williams added 65 yards on six carries. Lane Smith and Luke Hendren each added a touchdown run and combined for 90 yards on two carries.
Caydin Davidson and Gavin Trenkamp added touchdowns on a kickoff and punt return respectively. Beckett Langferman picked off two passes and ran two interceptions back for scores and Grant Langferman did the same with one interception. Levi Pierce added a safety in the end zone and Nick Voss was 8-of-9 on extra points.
Away from forcing four turnovers on defense, Milan got a sack out of Hendren and a team-high seven tackles. Kamden Miller added six tackles.
Milan (5-1, 4-0 MIFC) hosts Providence on Friday in a rematch of last year’s Class A Regional Championship. The Pioneers however are just 1-4 this season and fell 44-0 last week against Evansville Harrison.
