Carolyn Sue Sievers

Carolyn Sue Sievers

Carolyn Sue Sievers, 83, current resident of Plain City, Ohio and formerly of Decker, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 17, 2023. Born in Decker, Indiana, on December 15, 1939, to the late John W. and Martha M. Yochum, she graduated from Decker High School in 1957 and began her adult life as a Dental Assistant at a local dentist’s office. On June 19, 1965, Sue married the love of her life, Dave, and they began their life together in Evansville, Indiana. Seven short years later Dave’s profession took them to Ohio where they spent the next twenty-two years raising their children. Upon retirement in 1995, they returned to Indiana and built a new home at the site of Sue’s original birthplace. In 2018, they moved to Plain City, Ohio to be closer to their children. Sue was always smiling. She had a kind heart, love of family and strong faith in Christ. She was a devoted wife, mom, and homemaker and brought only joy, love, and laughter to her family and everyone she encountered. Sue had the ability to cook like no one else. Her pies and baked goods were the best and her Christmas candy was known worldwide. She enjoyed a good game of dominoes, working puzzles and had a passion for shoes, purses, clothes, and the Lord. She loved to decorate for nature’s four seasons, and she especially loved Christmas time. Most of all she was a natural giver of love and kindness and always put others’ needs before her own. Preceding her in death were her husband Dave, her parents, and brother John Edward.

She was the proud mom of daughter, Kimberly of Dublin, Ohio, and son, Scott (Cindy) of London, Ohio. Also surviving are her sisters, Lou Robinson, Mae Stevenson (Don), Martha Scott, Mary Taylor (Clyde), brothers Jim Yochum, Mike Yochum (Charlotte) and Paul Yochum (Adrienne) and numerous other extended family members. Sue will be especially missed at dinner time and nap time by her granddog Miley. On Saturday, October 21, 2023, visitation was held from 12:30pm to 2:00 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Chuckery 7960 State Route 38 Milford Center, OH 43045. A Lutheran church service followed at 2:00pm with Pastor Nathan Rastl presiding. A Christian burial followed at Forest Grove Cemetery in Plain City, Ohio. Pallbearers Scott Sievers, Mike Montgomery, Mike Priest, Randy Sievers, Paul Yochum and Bill Scott. Honorary Pallbearers Mike Yochum and Jim Yochum.
