Robert Denver “Bob” Gray

Robert Denver “Bob” Gray, passed peacefully from this life the morning of July 9, 2024, after a gradual decline in health. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family and caregivers, during the last days of his life. Bob was born at the Gray Family homestead in Olean, Indiana, on November 20, 1939, to Evelyn (Lane) Gray and Gilbert Gray. Bob graduated from Cross Plains High School in 1958. After graduation, he entered the United States Navy, and honorably served his Country for four years. On July 24, 1965, Bob married the love of his life, Linda (Linkmeyer) Gray. Bob and Linda have shared a very special love for the past 60 years, residing in Cross Plains, Indiana, while raising their three daughters, later moving to Versailles, Indiana. Bob worked for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, later transferring to Holset in Madison, Indiana, where he retired in 1995.

Bob was a member of the Cross Plains United Methodist Church, in Cross Plains, Indiana, and later the Versailles Baptist Church, in Versailles, Indiana. Bob served as a Trustee for Brown Township. Bob served as a past member of the Ripley County Planning Commission.Bob was a 50-year member and past Worshipful Master of The Versailles Masonic Lodge, No. 7, F & AM, Versailles, Indiana. Bob was a 32 Degree Mason and member of the Indianapolis Scottish Rite.

He enjoyed woodworking, caring for his yard, reading western books, crossword puzzles, and playing horseshoes. Most of all, Bob loved spending time with family and friends and his precious pup, Bella. His wisdom, love, and friendship will be missed by many.

Preceding Bob in death, his mother, Evelyn (Lane) Gray, his father, Gilbert Gray. Brother’s, Gary, Glen, Gene, John Gray, and his sister Wanda.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Linkmeyer) Gray, his three daughters, Rebecca (Frank) Arkenberg of Milan, Karen (Kevin) Wood of Versailles, and Julie (Todd) Keene of Osgood, his grandchildren, Matthew (Rachel) Arkenberg, David Arkenberg, Derek (Shelby) Wood, Samantha Wood, and Sydney (Kurt) Miller and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Janice (Gray) Linkmeyer and Hope Gray. Bob is survived by his brother, Ronnie Gray, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, July 12, 2024, at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, 1114 S Ripley Estates Dr., Versailles, Indiana, with Pastor Rick Burcham officiating. Burial will be at the Cross Plains United Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home.
