Preliminary plans for the Rising Star Casino to move has some people wondering what that means for the area. It was the first of the three casinos that came to the area and is located in Rising Sun.
Over the weekend several news outlets were saying the casino could possibly be moving to the Fort Wayne area.
Full House Resorts, Inc., which is the Casino’s parent company, has notified Ohio County and the City of Rising Sun of the preliminary plans to relocate the Rising Star Casino gaming license to the City of New Haven.
The Rising Sun Regional Foundation has given many grants to Ripley County over the years. The Versailles Republican reached out to the Foundation, but had not heard back as of press time.
Grants have benefitted fire departments, police departments, schools, churches, libraries, and more throughout the years. The money has truly made a difference in the surrounding communities reaching as far as Holton, who recently were able to purchase much needed police body and vehicle cameras and more for that department. Many in the community say they are grateful and would hate to see the casino leave.
