Phillip (Phil) King
Phillip (Phil) King, 60, of Holton passed away peacefully at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati on November 19, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 12, 1964 in Middletown, OH to Norma Jean (Sizemore) & Estill King Jr, and later moved to the Dabney community. He attended Holton Elementary School and South Ripley High School where he graduated with the class of 1982. He was married to Kelly Huff on September 15, 1990.
Phil will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Kelly; son Cody (Samantha) King of Batesville; two daughters Kasey (Alex) Smith of Noblesville and Kayla King of Evansville; granddaughter Ruby Jean Smith; brothers Steve (Marilyn) King of Kentucky and Jerry (Hope) King of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Vicki, and his brother Daniel. His deep love for his family was evident in everything he did, and his most cherished activities centered around his family members.
He was a former employee of Ohio Rod Products, beginning his career in the sales department and working his way up to plant manager where he gained many lifetime friends along the way. He then became VP of Elgin Fasteners Group (EFG). After leaving EFG he worked a short time with his brother at Pro Transmission in Northern KY and also as a consultant for Wrought Washer in Milwaukee, WI.
In addition to his family and work, Phil had a passion for singing and playing his guitar, hunting & fishing, coaching his kids’ sports teams, playing bid euchre, and playing sports such as volleyball, basketball, and golf. In retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, baking sourdough bread, and spending more time with Kelly and his little dog, Camo. He also enjoyed snowbirding in their Florida community, Lake Griffin Isles (LGI).
Phil was best known for his kindness, generosity, and gentle yet competitive spirit that leaves a lasting impact in multiple communities. He was a man of great character and a devoted husband, father, papaw, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend to all. Phil’s warmth, love, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace, forever in our hearts.
Funeral services were held on Monday, November 25, at 11:00 am at Tyson Activity Center in Versailles with Rev. Mitch Harrell and Rev. Luke Koors officiating. Visitation was held on Sunday, November 24, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at Tyson Activity Center. We invite friends and family to attend, where tears and laughter will equally be shared.
In honor of Phil, memorials may be given to Ripley County Basketball Hall of Fame or Tyson Activity Center in care of the funeral home.
