 Victor Lee McClure 77, of Milan passed away at 12:10 p.m., Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. He was born in Milan on November 13, 1947, the son of Cecil and Roweta Brindley McClure. He was married to Jean Davies on January 9, 1970, and his wife of 54 years survives. Other survivors include two sisters Betty Hooker and Dolly Stutler both of Milan, along with several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Donald. Mr. McClure was a 1965 graduate of Cross Plains High School. On September 6, 1967 Victor entered the US Army and served with the 287th Military Police Company in Berlin, Germany. He rose to the rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged on August 14, 1969. For service to his country, Victor received the Army of Occupation Berlin Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. In civilian life Victor worked as an electrician and millwright for Cummins and Seagrams. His main working career was with Diamond Shamrock. His work took he and Jean to Paynesville, Ohio and for several years to La Porte, Texas after which they retired back home to Ripley County in 2013. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and his motorcycles. Victor was a member of the Brown Township American Legion, the Versailles Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, and Shriners. The Versailles Masonic Lodge will hold services at 12 p.m. on Saturday, December 21 followed by funeral services with Rev. Sherman Hughes officiating. Visitation will also be on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. Victor’s wishes were to be cremated and burial will follow at a later date at the Indiana Veteran Cemetery in Madison. Memorials may be given to the Benham United Methodist Church or the Bear Creek Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
