Lady Raider run-rule OA

Julia Hilton and Anna Block, SR Lady Raider seniors, were honored along with their parents, on Wednesday night, May 21 for Senior Night. Julia is the daughter of Greg Hilton, Amber Vaughn, and Josh Gibson. Anna is the daughter of Rich and Heather Block.
South Ripley softball celebrated Senior Night in victorious fashion last Wednesday night, defeating Oldenburg Academy 15-5 in five innings.
Julia Hilton and Anna Block were honored prior to the game. That duo in the win combined to go 4-for-6 at the plate. Hilton was 1-for-2 with three RBI and three runs and Block went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs.
South Ripley led 7-0 before Oldenburg put five runs in the top of the fourth inning. The Lady Raiders responded in the bottom of the fourth with six runs and two runs in the bottom of the fifth ended the game with the 10-run mercy rule in effect.
Ellie Combs tripled and was 3-for-5 with five RBI and Taylor Jordan was 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run. Zoe Clowers added three hits and two runs, Emma Heidt scored three times and had a hit and both Kelly Lohrum and Ava Bastin had a hit, run and RBI. Abriah Hogg went 1-for-4.
Combs was the winning pitcher, allowing five unearned runs on four hits over five innings with eight strikeouts against just one walk.
Oldenburg statistics were not provided by time of print. The Lady Twisters were 4-9 after last Wednesday. South Ripley (10-12) is now set for Class 2A Sectional 45 play this week.
