Lady Bulldogs win RCT title

Batesville volleyball repeated as Ripley County Tournament champions on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Bulldogs won a pair of tourney matches in six-straight sets.
It was a repeat performance for Batesville volleyball and in sweeping fashion this past Saturday at home as the Lady Bulldogs once again claimed the Ripley County Tournament crown.
The Lady Bulldogs won the championship in six-straight sets, defeating Milan and South Ripley en route to the county throne.
After a 25-21 set one win, Batesville cruised with victories of 25-14 and 25-10 against Milan in the opening round of the tournament. Senior Reesa Zimmerman put up 15 kills for the blue and white and Addison Luers served four aces. Other leaders for the Lady Bulldogs included Raegan Hixson with five blocks and Anya Richey at 10 digs and two assists.
The championship match saw South Ripley fall to Batesville 25-6, 25-16 and 25-18. South Ripley’s crew had defeated Jac-Cen-Del in the opening round.
Zimmerman again led in kills, this time with 10 and both Luers and Richey served three aces. Hixson and Maddie Haskmap totaled three blocks each, Richey and Luers put up 17 digs and 14 digs respectively and Richey’s day concluded with five assists.
Statistics for South Ripley, Jac-Cen-Del and Milan were not provided by time of print. Batesville (8-3) is at East Central tonight for an Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference matchup.
South Ripley was home against Oldenburg on Monday and at North Decatur this evening. Jac-Cen-Del faces Oldenburg Academy tonight at home after last night’s contest against Rising Sun, and Milan is at Southwestern (Hanover) today.
