Budget hearing, adoption to be held at next SR mtg.
At the August meeting of the South Ripley Board of School Trustees it was noted that the Budget Hearing will be held on September 21 at 6:30 p.m. The Budget Adoption will be held during the regular meeting in October. Both meetings will be held at the high school auditeria and will be public meetings.
Personnel changes announced at the meeting included the following:
The approval of the 2020-2021 Bus Driver Directory as submitted by TBG Supervisor Gil Landwehr, was given unanimous approval.
The approval of the 2020-2021 high school and junior high and elementary school ECA positions as submitted by principals Joe Ralston, Derik Hutton, and Amy Linkel, were unanimously approved. These positions will be paid a stipend at the end of the school year with assignments completed.
Nicole Riley, Sandy Walcott and Megan Combs were approved to fill three 5.25 hour daily paraprofessional positions at South Ripley Elementary School. These positions are temporary and are not eligible for benefits.
The acceptance of Vernice Stratton’s retirement as cafeteria manager at the elementary school was accepted. Superintendent Rob Moorhead thanked Vernice for her 28 years of service.
The resignation of Robyn Greiwe from her 7-day hour daily paraprofessional position was accepted.
Whitney Kirk was transferred from a 5.25-hour daily paraprofessional temporary position to a 7-hour daily paraprofessional position. The position qualified for the non-certified benefits package.
Pauline Doan was recognized for 22 years of service for driving a bus. Her retirement request was approved.
Approval was given for Lindsay Hafft to be paid five days at her 2019-2020 daily rate for her participation in PLTW Medical Detectives training program, which was June 22-26. This will be be paid from the junior high STEM Acceleration Grant.
The resignation of Nicole McGuire from her position as a 5-hour daily cafeteria worker was approved.
McKenna Bradley resigned from the assistant swim coach position.
Lisa Schlot resigned from her 2-hour cafeteria position and “as needed” bus aide position.
Nick Ferrebee was hired as the online teacher for K-2 students and coordinator for the Raider Online Academy.
In other business:
Supt. Moorhead recommended approval to pay a $150 stipend to the teachers completing the Google Level Up challenge this summer. These stipends will be paid through the Digital Learning Advisory Grant.
Lynn Cumberworth will be paid a Teacher Mentor stipend to serve as a mentor to Jim Cole, first year teacher, for the 2020-2021 school year. This $500 stipend will be paid at the conclusion of the school year.
In a unanimous vote the board approved the purchase of two new 2020 Freightliners, 78 passenger buses from Kerlin Bus Sales. The purchase price for these buses is $90,105 each. Also, they approved the purchase a a new 2020 Collins 14 passenger yellow bus with a lift from MidWest Transit for the price of $77,978.
The approval to advertise the Calendar Year 2021 budgets as presented and discussed in the work session were approved.
