Animal neglect takes no holiday time off

Grace’s eyes plainly say, “Help Me.”
This sweet dog was left outside the Ripley County Humane Society and was almost killed on the roadway before being rescued by a passing motorist. Fortunately, the shelter staff was able to get her promptly to a veterinarian who took care of her multiple injuries that were due to long-term neglect. She has wounds on her feet, legs, and on several other areas of her body. The veterinarian believes that the animal had been confined for a long period of time, and had no option but to stand and lie in feces and urine, ultimately causing the wounds on her legs and body.
Grace, just 5 months old, is so grateful to have food and loving care at the shelter, but her veterinarian bills will be substantial. If you love animals and can help the Ripley County Humane Society with the expenses as this dog recovers from the trauma of neglect, please make a donation as a sponsor of her care. Your generosity and act of kindness will make this season brighter and more joyous for you, and certainly for Grace.
Animal abuse and neglect do not take a holiday; even more important, humane care doesn’t take a holiday either. Animal welfare is everyone’s responsibility, always. If you become aware of animal abuse or neglect within the community, notify local law enforcement officials who can assist in rescue of animal(s)
