The town of Milan, best known for the ’54 Miracle, is now the new destination for the holiday. From the traditional craft fair at the high school to the Third Annual Christmas Walk, events are shaping up to make your heart sing for joy.
November 19: Milan Craft Fair
The Milan Craft Fair has been in full swing for 45 years and this year is no exception.
According to Alyssa Parr, art teacher, the event has 200 vendors that have a huge variety of everything. “We only allow handmade items in our show,” Parr told The Versailles Republican. She said there are all sorts of wooden signs and décor, gifts, candles, treats etc.
If you’re looking for that hard to buy person on your list, there’s sure to be something at the craft fair coming up on November 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school (609) N. Warpath Drive, Milan. There is no admission charge to attend the event.
Parr says there are new vendors every year, so it’s always a little different than the year before.
Parr and Heather Hacker, choir teacher, are in charge of the event this year with the money raised going for the Art and Choir departments to help with field trip costs, costume costs, material costs, and new equipment, etc.
Come shop and support local students in the arts.
November 26: Milan’s 3rd Annual Christmas Walk
The event that is now in its third year has grown and is located at the Daren Baker Memorial Park (by the high school). This event will be held from 5-8:30 p.m.
Santa will be given a ride to the event by the Milan Volunteer Fire Department to help light the community tree and then move on to Santa Land where he will welcome children and adults alike.
“We are ‘lighting up the park’ as a place for our community of families and friends to gather,” noted Linda Meyer, one of the organizers of the event.
This family friendly event will boast a ATV/Golf Cart/Jeep Parade, free tractor and wagon shuttle, Ripley County Queen and her Court will make an appearance and much more. Stage entertainment will be complete with music. You are invited to join others on stage to make a big Christmas Choir.
You won’t want to miss the vendors and local shops for early Christmas shopping, along with some complimentary snacks such as the Smores Station, fresh donuts, hot dogs, bean soup and cornbread. Milan’s Third Annual Christmas Walk ornament will be provided by Civista Bank.
Those attending are asked to help support the Milan Food Pantry by bringing some of the items they need such as: laundry detergent, toilet paper, shampoo, dish soap, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter and canned goods.
This event encourages everyone to come together to share the wonder of Christmas, and share the bounty with those less fortunate.
