Call to police results in double arrests

An Osgood man who has active arrest warrants out of Ripley County was arrested near Madison on Sunday, January 15.

According to information from the Madison Police Department, Andrew M. Hoegeman, 34, was taken into custody after they were contacted by the Indiana State Police for a possible kidnapping.

A female had called by cell phone saying she had been kidnapped and was riding in a vehicle that was traveling through Hanover into Madison. ISP relayed the information and vehicle description to Madison officers.

Patrolman Trent Smith with MPD found the vehicle near the North Entrance to Clifty Falls State Park. While in the process of pulling the vehicle over for a traffic stop, it was noted that something had been thrown from the vehicle. This was later found to be a methamphetamine smoking pipe.

During the investigation, law enforcement officers found fentanyl, methamphetamine and marijuana inside of the vehicle, some of which was separated into individual baggies.

During the investigation officers found that the female who made the initial call had not been kidnapped nor was being held hostage by the driver.

Hoegeman was arrested for Invasion of Privacy, a level 6 felony, Dealing Methamphetamine, a level 4 felony, Possession of Methamphetamine, a level 5 felony, Obstruction of Justice, a level 6 felony, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor. Officers also found that he was wanted on active warrants out of Ripley County at this time.

Brandi R. Cuneo, 34 of Lawrenceburg, a passenger and the caller in the vehicle, was arrested for False Informing, a Class A misdemeanor, Obstruction of Justice, a level 6 felony, and Possession of Methamphetamine, a level 5 felony.

Hoegeman was on probation from Ripley County at the time of the arrest.
