Mary Ann McCoy honored for service

Mary Ann McCoy, longtime political servant for Ripley County, retired after 34 years in the Republican party. She served in various offices in the courthouse. A reception was held in her honor on Monday, December 30, in the Recorder’s Office (Courthouse annex) in Versailles. She is holding the plaque she had been presented from Assessor Shawna Bushhorn from the Ripley County Republican Women’s Club. Also pictured are friends, Ruth Hughes, and Becky Mullins.

Slick roads on south side of Ripley County

Coming down County Road 400W was treacherous Monday morning since the county hadn’t had a chance to get to that road yet. There was a good reason for the red alert the county gave, which means to stay off the roads!

Slick roads on south side of Ripley County

Pictured is US 421 South of Versailles on Monday afternoon. As you can see it was still only one lane with slick spots. The county and towns, along with state units have worked tirelessly to clean the roads but with that type of snowfall -up to 12 inches in places- it was hard to keep up.
