Local family has 178 years of bus driving

As many may know these two ladies of Ripley County, Geneen Crowell Ostendorf and her sister Gayla, have carried on the tradition of the Crowell family with their 73 years of bus driving services to the community between just the two of them, to add to the family’s long driving history. The Crowell family, combined, has 178 years in bus driving experience throughout Decatur and Ripley counties.


Batesville begins cross country season

Batesville kicked off its 2024 high school cross country season with an annual trip to the Valley Kick Off at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute.


St. Nicholas Church Festival enjoyed by many

These men were a few of the great chicken fryers on Sunday at the 4th Annual St. Nicholas Church Festival. They prepared 1200 chickens and 80 lbs. of livers and gizzards. After only an hour into the festival the lines were out to the road to come out for their well-known chicken.
