New role for editor

Wanda English-Burnett has assumed the role of General Manager/Managing Editor since the retirement of Linda Chandler at the end of 2019. English-Burnett is no stranger to the paper. She has worked for Ripley Publishing Co. since 1984. She began as a typesetter, worked in the front office doing subscriptions and proofreading, then moved into the position of office manager, eventually taking over as editor.


South Ripley names homecoming royalty

South Ripley seniors Lilli Hilton and Sam Evans were named 2020 Homecoming Queen and King on Saturday, February 1, in between the junior varsity and varsity boys basketball games against Jennings County. South Ripley’s student council organized the festivities with emcees Abby McCarty and Taylor Brison introducing all of the candidates.


Registration to begin for Milan K and preschool

Kindergarten and preschool registration for Milan Elementary students will be held April 2 at the elementary school. Kindergarten students who will be five years old on or before August 1 and preschool students who will be four year old on or before August 1 are welcome to register. All 2020 kindergarten and preschool classes will be full-day classes meeting every day, Monday through Friday, following the Milan Community School Corporation annual calendar. Students are eligible for all programs including lunch and book assistance.
