SR math teacher recognized for educator award

South Ripley eighth grade math teacher Melanie Evans was recognized at the January school board meeting for being awarded the 2018 Dr. Kosmas Kayes Educator Scholarship.


New members sworn in at JCD board meeting

The Jac-Cen-Del School Board met January 14 in the JCD Elementary school library at 7:00 PM. Jac-Cen-Del School Corporation now has a new superintendent, Ryan Middleton, former JCD high school principal. Stacy Gray, a representative of the teacher’s association, thanked the board for their work in hiring Ryan Middleton.


Man to serve the maximum; 42 years for burglary

On January 23 Christian Stewart, 23-years-old, of Madison, was sentenced to the maximum, 42 years, by Judge Jeffrey Sharp after being found guilty as charged of Conspiracy to Commit Burglary While Armed with a Deadly Weapon, a Level 2 Felony, and Possession of a Firearm as a Serious Violent Felon, a Level 4 Felony following a four-day jury trial that ended on December 14, 2018.
