Attention Taxpayers:

According to information from the Ripley County Auditor, Amy Copeland, all the taxpayers of Ripley County need to know that the exemptions/deductions that the State of Indiana has set in place are changing starting the 2025 payable 2026 tax year.
The Homestead and the Supplemental Homestead will remain the same for the 2025 pay 2026 tax year as well as the Veterans Disability exemption and the Heritage Barn.
The Over 65 exemption has changed to an Over 65 credit. You no longer have to reside on the property to qualify as well as your annual adjusted gross income must be less than $60,000.00 if filing “single” and $70,000.00 if filing “married”. In order to file for this credit, if you file income taxes, a copy of your previous year’s 1040 federal tax form will be needed.
The Blind and Disabled exemption has changed as well to a Blind and Disabled credit. There is no longer an income limit for filing. You must show proof of the disability by submitting a copy of the awards letter from the social security office or a letter from your physician.
Please note the Geothermal, Solar and Fertilization exemption will no longer be available.
December 31, 2025 is the deadline to file for any property exemption/credit for the 2025 payable 2026 tax year.
