Batesville seniors Molly Meer and Annie Negovetich will compete in the individual portion of the IHSAA Girls Tennis Regional on Saturday. The duo is slated for doubles action at North Central High School.
The coverage area was unable to push a complete team past the sectional but the Batesville senior duo of Molly Meer and Annie Negovetcich remain alive and will compete this weekend at the IHSAA Girls Tennis Regional in Indianapolis.
Meer and Negovetich advanced after competing in the individual portion of the IHSAA Girls Tennis Sectional late last week at Columbus North.
North Central High School will be quite the booming place this weekend. In addition to the IHSAA Track and Field State Championships and team portion of the IHSAA Girls Tennis State Finals, the school will also host the individual singles and doubles matches for the regional. Brackets for both will be two-match formats with winners advancing to state championship brackets.
Meer and Negovetich enter the regional with an unblemished 12-0 record. They will face Gibson Southern’s Abby Naas and Emily Holzmeyer (16-5) in Saturday’s semifinal with the winner advancing to a championship match against either Grace Carie and Caroline Beard (20-1) of South Knox or Anna Dupin and Eliza Starrett (4-0) of Eastern (Pekin).
The two Batesville seniors are the only remaining participants in either individual or team tournaments from Southeastern Indiana. Regional champions will compete in the IHSAA State Finals on June 13 and 14 at Park Tudor High School in Indianapolis.
Those wishing to attend Saturday’s regional are encouraged by North Central High School to enter the school property from the west at the Westfield Road stop light. It is located just in front of the YMCA near campus.
