A thrilling playoff hole determined the individual champion on Monday night but in the end it was a Bulldog freshman and Batesville’s entire team sweeping the Ripley County Boys Golf Championships at North Branch Golf Course.
It was a repeat performance for Batesville who continues to dominate the local golf scene but the Bulldogs found themselves with some competition on Monday.
Batesville put together a nine-hole team score of 151 with each golfer scoring two-over par or better. Milan sat back at 165 for a runner-up finish while Jac-Cen-Del was third with a 197 and South Ripley placed fourth at 241.
From an individual standpoint, Batesville’s Ian Hixson and Milan’s Jackson Voss navigated the course well and both finished nine holes with a one-over par 37, setting up a playoff hole to determine the individual county champion. In the end, it was Hixson, a freshman, who won the hole for the title. The duo with their superb efforts headlined the 2024 All-County Team.
The rest of the All-County Team was made up of Batesville golfers. Jackson Day, Cooper Phebus and Ian Moody each were one stroke back of Hixson with a two-over par 38. Batesville’s roster was rounded out by Landon Raver’s 40 which came inside a non-scoring round.
Micah Norman finished with a three-over 39 for Milan and Ethan Clark’s 44 alongside Jacob Helton’s 45 ended scoring for the black and gold. In a non-scoring round, Ben Knowlton carded a 48. Inside the Jac-Cen-Del scorecards, Caiden Kohlman, Case Comer and Darian Grieshop shot a 48 apiece to pace the Eagles while South Ripley was led by Cole Henry’s 49.
