Defense propels Lady Bulldogs

One of Batesville’s top defensive performances of the season translated into an Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference girls basketball win on Tuesday night as the Lady Bulldogs defeated Lawrenceburg 42-30 in a home contest.
The victory was the sixth in a row for Batesville who is now 3-0 inside the EIAC and remains unbeaten at home with a 6-0 mark.
Lawrenceburg (4-2, 1-1 EIAC) never recovered from an early hole as Batesville led 15-5 after the first quarter and used 11-9 and 8-4 advantages in the second half to stretch out a halftime lead that stood at six points. Seven different Lady Bulldogs hit the score column, led by Maddie Haskamp with 11 points.
Sydney Campbell added eight points and both Sophie Gesell and Marlee Obermeyer put in seven points. Lydia Haskamp’s four points, Kaylin Kathmann’s three points and Grace Walter’s two points rounded out Lady Bulldog scoring.
Batesville (8-2, 3-0 EIAC) is on the road against Connersville tonight for an EIAC matchup.
