House Bill 1233 has major concerns
Local fire departments have been sharing on social media their concerns about House Bill 1233 authored by Representative Karen Engleman (R, District 70).
This Bill would dissolve township government, a county executive would assume powers/duties of trustees for fire and emergency services, all fire territories and districts would be dissolved, the county would adopt a county fire/emergency services plan, a county emergency management director would oversee operations, an elected county trustee would administer assistance to those in need and various other provisions including dissolution of certain unincorporated towns would take place.
Most people think it’s too much power for one person where now the various townships give money to the fire departments, etc.
This has been tried before and interestingly enough this would impact all counties but Marion County (Indianapolis area).
Contact your state representatives today to let them know you don’t want HB1233 to pass.
