Indians, Eagles run ORVC meet

Milan and Jac-Cen-Del both sent their cross country teams to Hanover College this Saturday to compete in the Ohio River Valley Championship hosted by Southwestern High School.
Overall team results from this meet along with boy and girl times from South Ripley were reported in this past Tuesday’s Osgood Journal.
A second place effort by the Milan boys team was paced by junior Gabe Riehle who continued his stellar season by capturing an individual ORVC championship, winning the race in a time of 16:27 which was tops by nearly 30 seconds. Two teammates of Riehle’s joined him on the All-ORVC Team as Lucas Cooney ran behind Riehle in second place at 16:57 and Nathan Voss finished eighth at 18:23.
Riehle and Cooney were the only two runners to finish in under 17 minutes. Milan’s final two runners were Seth Thomas in 28th at 22:57 and Tyler Myers in 29th at 23:14.
Hannah Cooney and Elly Potts ran for Milan’s girls. Cooney was 13th in 24:13 and Potts ran 16th at 24:36.
The Lady Indians along with both Jac-Cen-Del teams failed to qualify for a team score. Hailey Caudill led the Lady Eagles in 28th at 32:28 and right behind was Rylee Reese in 29th at 33:03. Joselyn Burford was three spots back in a time of 38:36. Senior Jacob Ricke was the only boys runner for the Osgood crew, using a time of 23:31 to finish 32nd.
Milan, Jac-Cen-Del and South Ripley will go to the IHSAA Cross Country Sectional on Saturday in Hanover to compete inside Sectional 20. The girls kick off the morning at 9:30 a.m. with the boys to follow at 10:15.
