Milan’s wrestling team traveled to Franklin County High School on Saturday, February 1 for IHSAA sectional competition. The Indians earned a second place team finish among 11 schools at the meet.
Seven Milan wrestlers advanced to regional competition by placing in the top four of their respective weight class. Those athletes are Garrett Condo – first at 106 pounds, Richard Condo – third at 113 pounds, Ashton Myers – second at 120 pounds, Shane Lonneman – second at 132 pounds, Hunter Merida – fourth at 182 pounds, Zach Hauser – second at 195 pounds, and Brady Myers – third at 285 pounds.
Making the top six podium, but not advancing to regionals from Milan were Trent Burdette, Rusty Phillips, Chris Phillips, and Kegan McKinsey.
Garrett Condo was the lone champion for his Milan squad. He won the 106 pound weight class, his second year in a row to do so. Richard Condo, Lonneman, and Hauser are also returning to the regional for the second year in a row.
East Central won the sectional as a team scoring 293 points. Milan followed with 164.5, South Dearborn was third with 147.5, Rushville placed fourth with 143, and Lawrenceburg rounded out the top five with 131.
