It’s that time – Girl Scout cookie time!

When you think of Girl Scouts, what typically comes to mind? Most likely, it’s the cookies. However, Girl Scouts offers so much more than that! It provides incredible learning experiences for girls, teaching them how to make friends, have fun, seek adventure, give back to the community, lead, and earn badges and awards.
Troop 03202, which meets at South Ripley Elementary School, is entering its second year and is diligently working toward its cookie sales goals. This year, they have set ambitious targets, including funding a camping trip, organizing a movie outing, and facilitating a visit to the aquarium. During these events, troop leaders will ensure that the girls not only have fun but also learn valuable life lessons and earn badges to add to their vests.
Some girls have enjoyed Girl Scout camp, participating in various activities such as canoeing, hiking, and cooking. They also had a tea party where each girl helped prepare the meal and dessert, learning how to behave at special events like weddings or parties. The girls explored how to introduce themselves, engage in icebreakers, and set a table. These are important skills that everyone should know, and they’ve learned them together in a fun way.
The troop has also been focusing on community service projects. Their most recent activity involved assisting with the Phyllis Armbrecht Memorial Concert featuring Mary Rice Hopkins in August 2024. The girls had the opportunity to meet Mary Rice Hopkins beforehand and assist with various activities, such as face painting, a duck game, and a sucker pull. They also distributed puppets to children attending the concert. If you have a community service project that we could help with, please reach out to Amber at ambmay@hotmail.com.
Currently, our troop includes Daisies (Kindergarten – 1st Grade) and Juniors (4th and 5th Grades). We welcome girls of all ages to join us and are happy to have them attend a meeting if they’re unsure. While we enjoy group activities, we also break into age-specific groups, allowing the girls to earn individual badges and learn at their appropriate levels. You can find our troop by visiting girlscoutsindiana.org and using 47042 as the zip code to locate a troop. We meet at South Ripley Elementary every other Tuesday at 6 PM.
If you’d like to purchase a box (or two) of Girl Scout cookies, please visit our troop page here https://digitalcookie.girlscouts.org/scout/troop03202c434?fpkp=1.
