Kaiser named EIAC MVP

Kaiser named EIAC MVP

Batesville senior Cade Kaiser was forced to sit out due to injury this past fall, ruining any hopes of Most Valuable Player honors in the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference football ranks. Basketball was another story.

Kaiser missed just one conference matchup this winter and returned from injury to reemerge back on the scene en route to being named EIAC Boys Basketball MVP for a second-straight year. He is the fourth Bulldog to be a two-time MVP, joining the likes of Bulldog greats Michael Menser, Alex Grimsley and Colt Ryan.

The EIAC All-Conference Boys Basketball Team was revealed earlier this month with Kaiser’s name at the top of the list. Kaiser, a senior, averaged 14.3 points per game along with 6.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and two blocks per contest. He helped Batesville to a 14-10 overall record and a second place finish in the EIAC before the Bulldogs bowed out to eventual sectional champion Jennings County in the semifinals of Class 3A Sectional 29.

Kaiser scored 27 points in that game, the final one of his high school career. He finished his time in a Batesville uniform with 1,130 career points which ranks him seventh in school history.

Batesville junior guard Trenten Luers was also named to the All-EIAC Team. Luers sat at 11 points and three assists per game while drilling 56 3-pointers on a 41 percent clip. He totaled 253 points for the season.

East Central, Lawrenceburg and Greensburg were EIAC Tri-Champions after each program notched a 5-2 conference mark. Lawrenceburg led all schools with three All-Conference selections which included Noah Knigga, JP Izzo and Kaleb Cole.
