Lady Raiders bash Switz Co.
South Ripley girls basketball picked up an Ohio River Valley Conference victory in convincing fashion last Tuesday night, drilling Switzerland County 58-34 at home.
It was the third win for the Lady Raiders in their last four games. South Ripley is now 2-1 in the ORVC and sits just behind Shawe Memorial in the conference standings. The Lady Hilltoppers sport a 4-0 mark.
South Ripley jumped out to a 22-10 lead in the first quarter and pushed the margin to 14 points by halftime. The advantage only continued to move up in the second half and that included a 13-7 spurt in the final eight minutes as Switzerland County (3-8, 0-2 ORVC) never could find any footing against a strong Lady Raider defensive effort.
Junior Kaiya Rinear and sophomore Claire Samples each scored 12 points for the Lady Raiders in the first half and both finished leading all scorers with 19 points apiece. Katie Miller and Aubrey Werner added seven points and six points respectively. Switzerland County was led by Lauren Smith with 10 points.
South Ripley (7-6) was home on Saturday against Class 3A No. 1 Greensburg.
