Lady Raiders rout Milan

South Ripley junior Claire Samples reached 500 career points on Tuesday night with 16 points in a win against Milan. Samples has scored in double figures in both games so far this season for the Lady Raiders.
South Ripley girls basketball scored its first win of the season on Tuesday night, blitzing Milan 65-22 in Versailles as part of an early season Ohio River Valley Conference matchup.
The Raiders locked in on defense, holding the Indians to just nine points in the second half. Milan has now fallen in three-straight to start the year.
A 15-8 first quarter score ballooned for the Lady Raiders who used a 14-5 run to close out the first half. The third frame saw a 21-7 surge and a running clock was eventually forced in the final eight minutes with the mercy rule in effect.
South Ripley junior Claire Samples nailed four 3-pointers -three in the second half- and finished with 16 points, putting her up to 500 career points with still plenty of season left to go. Senior Kaiya Rinear also tallied 16 points which now puts her just 21 points away from 1000 career points.
Illana Prosser added eight points for the green and white, Emily Parks had six points and Ellie Combs scored four points in the second half. Rounding out Lady Raider scoring were Sophie Lauber and Evelyn Kelly with three points and two points respectively.
Emma Voss led Milan with nine points and Ellie Rullman followed with eight points. McKenna Eaglin added three points and Lexi Hagga chipped in two points.
Milan (0-3, 0-1 ORVC) is at Hauser this evening and will visit Morristown on Saturday. South Ripley (1-1, 1-0 ORVC) goes to Jac-Cen-Del on Saturday for their annual November rivalry matchup.
