Local teams slated for Indy shootout
South Ripley girls basketball heads to Indianapolis this week for the Charlie Hughes Girls Showcase. The Lady Raiders are set for four games over the weekend.
Perhaps the biggest high school basketball summer shootout will once again see plenty of coverage area flavor this weekend and next as four teams are slated for the annual Charlie Hughes Shootout in Indianapolis.
Schedules for the girls and boys events were released on Tuesday of this week. Girls action will be this Friday and Saturday and that will be followed up with the boys showcase the weekend after.
Batesville, Oldenburg Academy and South Ripley girls basketball will all be in action this weekend. The Lady Bulldogs play at Fishers High School on Friday and will be matched up with perennial power Oak Hill at 2 p.m. before a 5:30 p.m. matchup with South Central (Union Mills). Batesville’s Saturday features an 11:20 a.m. game against Tippecanoe Valley at Fishers and a 2:50 p.m. showdown with Jeffersonville at Hamilton Southeastern High School.
Oldenburg is currently slated for just two games, both of which are on Friday. They play Lafayette Central Catholic at Hamilton Southeastern beginning at 2 p.m. and follow up at 5:30 p.m. against Corydon Central. South Ripley is scheduled for four games, beginning on Friday at 2 p.m. against Evansville Christian at Fishers Junior High School.
The Lady Raiders close Friday with Seeger at 4:20 p.m. at Hamilton Southeastern. South Ripley goes back-to-back on Saturday at Hamilton Southeastern beginning with a 9 a.m. game against Crispus Attucks and 11:20 a.m. versus Tri-West.
South Ripley is the only coverage area boys team on June 20 and 21 between Westfield High School and Westfield Middle School. The Raiders open that Friday at the middle school against New Palestine at 1:20 p.m. and follow up at the high school at 4:40 p.m. versus Evansville Memorial. Saturday action sees the green and white in the two locations in the same order.
10:10 a.m. is against Northwood and the Raiders will play Westview at 12:30 p.m.
