Local track teams compete at L’burg

Dearborn County welcomed three coverage area teams last Tuesday night as Lawrenceburg played host to South Ripley, Jac-Cen-Del and Oldenburg Academy in a four-way track and field meet.
The host Tigers won out the battle, taking the win on the boys side with 128.5 points while the girls team finished tops with 128 points. South Ripley picked up two second place finishes as the boys scored 59 points and the girls totaled 67 points while Jac-Cen-Del and Oldenburg traded third and fourth place finishes. The Eagle boys were third at 33.5 points while the Lady Eagles were fourth with two points. The Twister boys had 28 points for fourth place and the Lady Twisters finished third with 36 points.
South Ripley’s girls team had five wins including Shelby Bastin who was first place in both the 1600 and 3200 runs. Emily Flood was a winner in the 100 hurdles and Alexa Yeomans followed with a first place ribbon in the 300 hurdles. That duo then joined up with Hailey Oritz and Leonie Hager to win the 400 relay.
The 1600 relay team of Oritz, Jennifer McIntosh, Bastin and Chloe Ivey and the 3200 relay team of Bastin, Mady Tingle, Kylie Betz and Katie Miller both finished in second place. Yeomans and McIntosh were runner-up in the 100 hurdles and 400 dash respectively. Flood came back and placed third in both the 100 and 200 dashes.
On the boys side for the Raiders, William Tunny was a double-event winner in the 110 high hurdles and high jump while Carson Fisk was tops in the 800 run. The squad of Joseph Davis, Fisk, Jacob Ivey and Tunny won both the 400 and 1600 relays. Hayden Hooten ran second in the 3200 run. Third place finishers for the Raiders included Tunny in the 200 dash, Davis in the 400 dash, Hooten in the 1600 run and Daymon Speer in the 300 hurdles. Ryan Gorrell, Evan Eaglin, Luke Bradley and Hooten placed third in the 3200 relay.
Jac-Cen-Del’s Jacob Ricke was a triple-event winner, laying claim to the 100, 200 and 400 dashes and Corbin White was a double-event winner, earning top spots in the discus and shot put. Ricke, Kayden Vachet, Zachary Yeary and Braydon Comer were third in the 400 relay. Top finisher for the Lady Eagles was Emma Wagner, finishing fourth in the high jump.
Rachel Sutman represented Oldenburg and was second in the discus and third in the shot put while teammates Bridgette Ehrhard and Madelyn Henry were second place in the 800 run and 300 hurdles respectively. Maddie Ryan and Sophia Hohenstein were third place finishers while also placing third were the Lady Twister 400 and 1600 relay teams.
The Oldenburg boys got a first place finish out of Carter Walsman in the 3200 run and he was also second in the 1600 run. The 3200 relay team ran runner-up while Santiago Schutte was third in the 3200 and Calvin Grote was third in the discus.
