Locals advance to wrestling regional

Milan and Batesville wrestling will be well-represented this upcoming weekend at the IHSAA Boys Wrestling Regional at Richmond. 11 combined Indians and Bulldogs punched tickets this past Saturday in local sectional action, four of which were crowned individual champions.
The coverage area put together four championship performances and a total of 11 are advancing in the postseason after competing at the IHSAA Boys Wrestling Sectional on Saturday at South Dearborn.
Official results from the Indiana High School Athletic Association were not provided by time of print. This includes both complete team results and individual brackets.
Of the 11 regional qualifiers, eight of them hail from Milan High School who did place second as a team at the sectional. Mason Baylor and Matthew Baylor each came away with sectional championships in their respective brackets and those with runner-up finishes were Jake Roell, Jaydin Disbro and Kayden McClellan. Kolton Harris and Beckett Langferman each placed third and Carson Ellis finished fourth.
Carson Weiler and Adam Brewer emerged as sectional champions for Batesville and also advancing was Huston Cook who secured a runner-up spot. Regional qualifiers include the top four individuals in each weight class.
The IHSAA Boys Wrestling Regional will be this Saturday at Richmond High School and will begin at 9 a.m. Top four finishers in each weight class will advance to the semi-state at New Castle on February 14.
