Milan board members congratulate Kayla Roell on her wrestling achievements
Kayla Roell, standing, was congratulated by Milan School Board members and superintendent at Feb. meeting.
At the Milan School Board of Trustees meeting, Kayla Roell, senior, was recognized for her wrestling season. Kayla was sectional and regional and made her second appearance at the state championship meet where she finished in seventh place. “Kayla has done a fantastic job representing Milan during her wrestling career,” Supt. Patrick Murphy noted. He added that they are very proud of her and what she has done for Milan and the girls wrestling program.
Board members congratulated Kayla on her achievements with Mike Alloway acknowledging her interest in helping underclassmen to help build the girls wrestling program. Board member Anne Marie Layden also congratulated Kayla, and also gave accolades to the boys wrestling, band solo and ensemble participants and the boys and girls swimming program.
Under Personnel:
The Board approved the resignation of Dan Goris as School Resource Officer, effective at the end of the 2025-26 school year, the resignation of IS Instructional Assistant Brooke Hoffman, effective immediately.
Alyssa Riehle was recommended by John Prifogle for the IS Instruction Assistant, which met with unanimous approval.
In other business:
The Board approved increasing the corporation’s mileage reimbursement rate to $.72. This is the 2026 standard IRS rate recommendation. They approved a request for Ryan Langferman, David Carpenter, Bryan Beeler and Kyle Sabol to attend the Glazier Clinic Conference in February. They approved a request for David Helseth to attend in-person Spanish classes in Buenos Aires in March as part of a Teacher Exchange Program.
Requests from Milan Summer Baseball to use the high school parking lot for their opening day parade in April and for Child Evangelism Fellowship to host Good News Club at the elementary school in April were both approved.
A request for the high school baseball team to sell discount cards in March was approved.
Board members in attendance at the February 9 meeting include Greg Lewis, Edward Amberger, Mike Alloway and Anne Marie Layden. Tim Tuttle was absent.
