Milan boys and girls win three-way track meet with SR, Rising Sun

Indians track and field athletes traveled to Versailles on Tuesday, April 23 and went home with two team victories over ORVC opponents South Ripley and Rising Sun. The girls scores were: Milan 61, South Ripley 58, and Rising Sun 36. The boys scores were: Milan 64, South Ripley 52, and Rising Sun 35.
Milan’s first place finishers included: Cici Bailey – high jump, Bella Knueven – discus, Alijah Craig – 100 dash, 200 dash, and 300 hurdles, Dakotah Knueven – discus, Peyton Cavins – 100 and 200 dash, Matt Riehle – 400 dash, Casey Burdette – 800 run, and Kevin Thielmann – 1600 run. The girls 4×100 relay team of Lilly Phelps, Shyann Smith, Skyler Winchester, and Alijah Craig placed first, as did the boys 4×400 team of Matt Riehle, Casey Burdette, Matthew Hall, and Peyton Cavins. Cavins set a school record in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.81.
Milan’s second place finishers included: Alyssa Brinkman – 400 dash, Lilly Phelps – long jump, Sophie Thomas – high jump, Dakotah Knueven – shot put, Matthew Hall – 110 hurdles, Matt Riehle – 100 and 200 dash, Peyton Cavins – 400 dash, Kevin Thielman – 3200 run, and Nate Burgan – high jump.
South Ripley’s first place finishers included: Megan Cole – 1600 and 800 runs, Elyse Hunger – 3200 run, Cierra Copeland – shot put, Dillion Binion – 300 hurdles, Jacob Elliot – high jump, and Mark Adams – shot put. Three Raiders relay teams also placed first. In the girls 4×800, Megan Cole, Lanie Nicholson, Emily Campbell, and Elyse Hunger prevailed. In the girls 4×400, it was Cole, Nicholson, Campbell, and Deborah Murphy. In the boys 4×100, Dillion Binion, Boyd Grossman, Tanner Franklin, and Mark Adams finished first.
Second place finishers for South Ripley included: Avery Perkinson – 100 hurdles, Elyse Hunger – 1600 run, Abby Kieffer – 300 hurdles, Lanie Nicholson – 800 run, Jessica Vogel – 3200 run, Nick Zigan – 1600 run, Tanner Franklin – 800 run, Dillion Binion – long jump, and Mark Adams – discus. The boys 4×400 relay team of Binion, Grossman, Franklin, and Jacob Elliot also placed second.
South Ripley Coach Jim Cole reported that between his boys and girls athletes, 27 personal bests occurred at the meet.
