Firefighters from several departments can be seen putting out this blaze at about 2:00 a.m. on January 2.
The home, located at 6763 W. Versailles Street in Holton, is owned by James Wright, who lived there with his wife and son, who is in elementary school. The family lost some of their pet cats in the blaze and only escaped with the clothes on their backs. According to a witness, the fire was possibly started by an electric heater (not an official cause). The house as seen above from the west and east sides, was a total loss.
Helping the Holton firefighters were Osgood Fire, New Marion, Campbell Township, Versailles Fire Rescue, Holton Police, Ripley County Sheriff, Indiana State Police, Duke Energy, and the Red Cross.
