Post 173 shooters compete
A young Versailles American Legion Post #173 junior shooting team is still learning and used its last match against Jasper to gain experience. Head coaches Jerry Hewitt and Steve Scoggins say the group is continuing to learn and only keeps improving.
Versailles American Legion Post #173 saw its junior shooting team compete towards the latter portion of November, falling in a dual match to Jasper.
Jasper won with a team score of 954-14 while Versailles sat back at 828-7. Braxdon Coakley paced Jasper’s efforts and led all shooters with an individual score of 262-5.
Chloe Grable led Post #173 with a score of 229-3 and Quinn Faust totaled a 213-1. Mason Comer put up a 208-3 while others shooting for Versailles were Korbin Hallgauth, Brizius Michaela and Ayden Boyce. Hallgauth scored a 178, Michaela was at 172-3 and Boyce finished out at 127-1.
Versailles and its young squad will continue its schedule for the remainder of 2025 and looks to continue to build as the season enters its 2026 slate. Out of six shooters, Post #173 entered that late November match with three individuals having never shot in a match.
