Proper attire needs to be worn at Annex

Shirt and shoes are not optional
At the July 7 meeting, the subject of proper attire was brought up by Commissioner Roger Gullion. He noted that he had been approached by someone noting that people were coming into the Annex Building in Versailles with no shoes and no shirts.
Gullion asked if a sign could be put with a dress code for the building. Commissioner Mark Horstman said they just needed to notify security about the situation. Everyone should have proper attire when entering a public building, which includes shoes and shirts.
Commissioners discussed about having the Park Board meeting at the annex due to the need to have public meetings live-streamed. They voted unanimously to move the meetings.
In other business, Craig Herbert with maintenance, brought in quotes for a new UTV with a snowblade. The quotes are: Thornton’s Motorcycle $27,241.81, Zimmer Tractor $27,499, Stone $28,740.00, On Target $31,295.95, and Osgood Power Equipment for $31,289.66. The Commissioners noted they are going to see what they do with the truck first before making the decision on the UTV.
Commissioners discussed having an open house for people to see the courthouse work, but nothing was set. They noted they would not be rehanging the restroom heater unless it is needed for the winter.
Sheriff Rob Bradley gave information about the roof leaking at the jail. He also noted that the nepotism situation has been taken care of at the jail.
Commissioner Gullion asked that Richard Block be appointed to the Alcohol Beverage Board. This met with unanimous approval from the Commissioners.
Tara Briggs with the health department was denied her request to make the Annex a public cooling center. The Commissioners asked her to keep asking other places. Briggs was given permission to set up early for the department’s back to school bash. Commissioner Jeff Volz noted that he wanted to look at the site where new sheds will be sitting before the health department puts them into place.
Geneen Ostendorf with Ripley C.A.R.E. came before the Commissioners and said since April 14 of this year, this group has spoken to the Board of Health, Council and the Commissioners about an Animal Control Officer. It was noted that the Commissioners would put it in the budget.
