Raider boys win Moores Hill Invite

South Ripley cross country made its fall debut on Saturday morning and came away with a victory as the boys team picked up a title at the Moores Hill Invitational.
The boys side of the event saw the Raiders edge out Lawrenceburg by three points. South Ripley won with 34 points and Tigers were right behind at 37 points. South Decatur scored 50 points and was third while South Dearborn also competed but did not field a complete team.
20 runners ran in the race that was won by Lawrenceburg’s Gabriel Hensley in 18:51.50 while teammate Grant Hensley was second in 18:56.30. South Ripley’s Luke Bradley was third overall in 19:17.20 and fellow Raider Hayden Hooten was a fifth place finisher in a time of 19:58.80. South Dearborn’s Adam Bruner was in-between at fourth place in 19:39.20.
South Ripley had one other runner in the top 10 as Joseph Davis was sixth overall in 20:33.50. Bradley Leach was 11th in 21:17.10, Evan Eaglin was 13th in 21:27.60 and Ryan Gorrell was 16th in 22:18.20. The Raiders were rounded out by freshman Jordan Davis in 18th place at 24:49.40.
In the girls race, Columbus East dominated and easily won, taking seven of the top 10 spots and winning with 15 points. South Dearborn was runner-up with 52 points and South Decatur was third with 71 points. Lawrenceburg and South Ripley did not field complete teams for the opener.
South Ripley did have a runner finish as the overall runner-up in the meet as senior Shelby Bastin ran in a time of 22:49.70. Teammate Elizabeth McKittrick, a sophomore, was 19th in 27:34.70, freshman Mady Tingle was 31st in 40:09.70 and sophomore Kaitlyn Tingle was 33rd in 43:22.40. Chloe Krueger of Columbus East was the overall winner in a time of 22:35.70.
Next up for South Ripley is a meet on August 25 as the Raiders go to Westport for a four-way meet against host South Decatur, Milan and Jac-Cen-Del.
