South Ripley baseball picked up a 6-2 win at home against Rising Sun on Monday as part of Senior Night.
The Raiders honored Braydon Dilk, Landon Adams and Reese Heffelmire prior to the game. South Ripley’s win was its second this season over Rising Sun inside the Ohio River Valley Conference.
Rising Sun got off to a 2-0 start but South Ripley quickly tied the game in the bottom of the first inning. The 2-2 score stood until the Raiders erupted for four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull away. Austin Hodge drove in four runs for the green and white and went 1-for-4 with a triple and run scored. Dilk was 2-for-3 with a double, run and RBI and Trenton Smith hit a double with a team-high two runs.
Mason McNew, Braxton Wilson and Adams each hit a single for South Ripley. Brady Ruble picked up the win on the mound, throwing six and two-thirds innings for the Raiders and allowing two earned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and four walks.
South Ripley (7-10, 5-5 ORVC) is still looking to wrap up a rain-shortened game with Jac-Cen-Del before the end of the regular season. The Raiders were scheduled to play ORVC foe Shawe Memorial on Wednesday.
