Ripley County man arrested for not registering as a sex offender

According to information from Sheriff Rob Bradley, an Osgood man was arrested for violating the Lifetime Sex Offender Registry after he failed to register.
Last week, Tuesday, July 8, Lieutenant Adam Hunger from the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip from a citizen that David Smith of Osgood, was a sex offender and was supposed to be registered in Kentucky.
After further investigation, Lt. Hunger found that Smith was required to be a lifetime sex offender and had not registered in nearly nine years as required.
Within 24 hours, Smith was located at his home in Osgood and arrested on a level 6 felony, for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, under Indiana Code 11-8-8-17.
