SCC hires new principal; announces Open House

Principal
Jeff Cox
The Southeastern Career Center located on US 50 in Versailles is a one-of-a-kind school. Under the direction of Tracy Bear, they continue to turn out students ready for the work force, college, military or wherever life may lead them.
Recently a new Principal/Assistant Director has been employed – Jeff Cox. He comes to the area from Arizona but grew up in North Dakota. He noted, “Growing up in North Dakota immersed me in the world of competitive ice hockey as both an amateur and professional. While earning my undergraduate degree at the University of North Dakota, my focus began to shift from the ice to the classroom, where I discovered a genuine passion for education. I later continued my academic journey at Northern Arizona University, concentrating on Secondary Education and Educational Leadership.”
Cox said over the past 20 years he has cultivated a dynamic and fulfilling career that bridges the fields of education and business. “My professional background includes leadership roles such as Interim Principal and Assistant Principal, as well as teaching positions in business, marketing, finance, and mathematics. I’ve also remained connected to my roots in construction by renovating houses in Arizona and Indiana.”
Cox and his wife, who is a school counselor, raised twin sons who now attend Northern Arizona University. He said his family recently relocated to Indiana. “I’m proud to be part of the Southeastern Career Center team,” he noted, adding, “I believe in a student-centered, well-rounded approach that focuses on personal growth, strong relationship, and creating meaningful opportunities for all learners. I’m excited to support the SCC mission and contribute to the continued success of our students and community,” he concluded.
“SCC is pleased to welcome Mr. Jeff Cox as our new principal,” noted Director Bear. “I am thrilled to have Jeff join our leadership team and bring his passion for Career Technical Education to our school. His strong background in CTE, deep commitment to student success, and belief in the power of hands-on career-focused learning make him a tremendous asset to SCC. Jeff cares deeply about students, values collaboration, and will play a key role in supporting both our staff and our mission to prepare students for bright futures,” she concluded.
Local businesses and community partners are invited to set up a display at the school’s upcoming Open House Career Fair on August 21 at the school from 5-7 p.m. There you can meet with educators about the 15 programs that are offered and meet with local businesses and colleges. You can contact the school at 812-689-5253 to reserve a space for this event.
