Batesville head coach Ben Siefert, seen here with his Lady Bulldog golf program, has been named the Region 6 Coach of the Year after a stellar spring season with Batesville boys golf. Between the girls and boys teams this past school year, Siefert led both to a pair of county, conference, and sectional championships.
The name Siefert holds a special meaning when it comes to Batesville Athletics and another bearing the legendary last name has made his mark in the coaching world as Batesville’s Ben Siefert has been named the 2025 Region 6 Boys Golf Coach of the Year.
Siefert, the son of former Batesville boys basketball coach Melvin Siefert, was one of six region award winners honored by the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association.
At the helm of the Bulldog boys golf program, the accolades of Coach Siefert and his team have been frequent all spring. Batesville not only took first place in its own invitational but also swept three other championships that propelled them into one of the tops in program history. The Bulldogs not only won the Ripley County and Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference titles, but also won their first IHSAA Boys Golf Sectional since 1996 and advanced to the regional as a team for the first time since 2012.
Batesville wrapped up with a fifth place finish in the regional, missing a state finals bid by just five strokes.
“Coach (Ben) Siefert’s time, energy and investment in our golf teams are exceptional,” the Batesville Community School Corporation said in a release on Facebook. “His dedication to our student-athletes continues to make a lasting impact on and off the course.”
Siefert also serves as head coach of the Batesville girls golf program, a group which has had plenty of success in his tenure since taking over for former head man Tom Meyer.
The Lady Bulldogs under Coach Siefert have been a county, conference and sectional champion while also having made a team appearance in the IHSAA Girls Golf State Finals in 2023. Away from that bid, Siefert has seen golfers Ava South, Addyson Weiler and Emma Weiler all with individual state trips including South’s second place spot two seasons ago.
This is Siefert’s first Region Coach of the Year honor.
