Smell leads to arrest for ride co. employee
After Versailles Marshal Joe Mann received several reports from people attending the Versailles Pumpkin Show of smelling burnt marijuana, he checked out the situation on the square last Wednesday night, September 25.
On the west side of the square at a booth where people could throw darts, Brian C. Brannigan, 53, of Edgewater, Fl, was taken into custody without incident. The Marshal also smelled what appeared to be marijuana and obtained a warrant for the shelter where Brannigan was operating from. Brannigan refused to allow the Marshal to look inside, but after a warrant was obtained, law enforcement found some illegal paraphernalia inside. This led to initial charges of possessing methamphetamine, syringes, marijuana, and paraphernalia being filed.
Marshal Mann said Brannigan was employed with Jessop Amusements, who brought the rides and several vendors to the Versailles Pumpkin Show this year where he ran the dart game. Brannigan bonded out of jail Thursday morning, September 26.
