South Ripley announces Athletic HOF
A rich tradition of athletics will be forever cemented in Versailles starting in 2025 as South Ripley High School has announced the creation of the South Ripley Athletic Hall of Fame.
South Ripley joins Oldenburg Academy as the only two schools in the coverage area to sport an Athletic Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame will be used as a program dedicated to honoring not only the exceptional success of student-athletes and coaches who left their mark on South Ripley Athletics but also those who have served as a contributor, someone who has served in other capacities and proven vital to the promotion of an athletic program. All nominations will be considered by the South Ripley Athletic Hall of Fame Committee, a group that will be made up of those from the school community.
“Individuals must be nominated to be considered for induction,” South Ripley Athletic Director Jeff Gorrell noted. “Nominees should have distinguished themselves through significant achievements as a student-athlete, coach or through meritorious service to SRHS. Additionally, former student-athletes who have brought distinction to SRHS through their post high school achievements are also eligible for consideration.”
Up to eight members will be selected for induction as part of the inaugural 2025 Hall of Fame class with the 2026 class having as many as six members. All years following will see up to four inductees in each class. Those nominees who are not selected as part of their first year up for nomination, will remain up for consideration for an additional five years.
Nominations are set to be open this spring and the deadline for the 2025 class will be on November 1 of this year. Each year’s induction class will be recognized at a varsity basketball game with an official banquet to follow in the spring.
