South Ripley bowling sent its junior varsity squad to the lanes in Columbus this past Saturday and captured a tournament championship in the process, beating Columbus North to win the Southeastern Indiana Conference title.
In team competition, South Ripley beat Columbus North 372-315 as the team of Reese Swingle, Logan McGee, Ryan Day, Isabelle Morris and Nik Bressert took home the title. Eli Liming competed for the Raiders individually and was the tournament’s top individual bowler on the boys side, rolling a career-high 669 and defeating second-seeded Landon Minion of Columbus North 195-165 in a seeded finals matchup. Liming, the No. 1 seed, had a series average of 223.
In girls action, both Jordan and Morris of South Ripley seeded No. 1 and No. 2 in the Saturday event with Morris defeating Jordan 224-163 to claim top girl honors.
The match follows up a successful end to January for the South Ripley bowling teams. Both varsity and junior varsity teams competed at the end of the month in Vevay and were successful in those matches.
