SR golf opens with second place finish

South Ripley girls golf earned a runner-up finish to start its 2023 campaign as part of a four-way match at the Butler Falls Golf Course in Hanover last Friday night.

This is the second-straight season that the Lady Raiders have fielded a complete team after the girls golf program was forced to step away for a few years due to a lack of numbers.

South Ripley had four golfers compete on Friday, turning in a team score of 257 for its second place spot. Also competing in the match were Southwestern (Hanover), Switzerland County and Shawe Memorial. Scores from those three schools were not provided by time of print.

Anna Block paced the Lady Raiders with a nine-hole score of 57 and Lilly Jones followed with a 65. Emma McCarty was two strokes back at 67 and Mady Hicks wrapped up South Ripley scoring with a 68.

South Ripley returns to Butler Falls on Thursday for a match being hosted by Southwestern.
