South Ripley continued to see improvement out on the golf course early this week, going out on back-to-back nights and nabbing a pair of second place finishes against some familiar area competition.
The two matches were part of four this week as the early season schedule remains heavy for the Lady Raiders.
South Ripley shot a 267 on Monday and placed second behind Switzerland County in a tri-match that also featured Jac-Cen-Del. Lilly Jones shot a nine-hole 54 for the Lady Raiders and teammate Callie Comer followed at 60. Jocelyn Meador and Aliyah Grigsby rounded out the scoring with a 71 and 72 respectively.
Team scores for both opponents along with individual scores for Jac-Cen-Del were not provided by time of print.
Head coach Brad Goldsberry watched his Lady Raiders improve by 24 strokes on Tuesday as part of a runner-up finish at Kelly’s against North Decatur, Jac-Cen-Del and Lawrenceburg. North won the match with a 234, South Ripley was right behind at 243 and the Lady Eagles finished three strokes back and in third with a 246. Lawrenceburg’s crew rounded out the standings after finishing with a 263.
It was a big night for Jones who found herself earning individual medalist honors for the first time this season and the Lady Raider leader won with a nine-hole score of 48. Comer and Meador each sat at 63 and Kaleigh Bearden competed for the first time this week and put a 69 on the scorecard.
Jac-Cen-Del individual scores were not provided by time of print. The Lady Eagles are currently scheduled not to golf again until Monday at Sunrise Golf Course in Madison.
South Ripley was slated for a match on Wednesday and goes to The Links today in Rising Sun.
