Tiger Sharks win SEISA title

Milan Aquatics gets warmed up prior to its SEISA Championship appearance on Saturday at Greensburg. The Aquatics finished second in the meet.
A plethora of talent was in the Greensburg High School pool last Saturday and it was the host team hoisting a trophy by the end of the day as the Decatur County Tiger Sharks claimed the 48th Annual Southeastern Indiana Swimming Association Conference Championship.
It was just the second conference title for Decatur County. The Sharks picked up the victory after totaling 1969.5 points.
Defending champion Milan was forced into a second place finish, scoring 1734.5 points and Jefferson County was third with 1550 points. Batesville’s club placed fourth at 1120.5 points, Hidden Valley rounded out the top five with 1033 points and finishing out the field were South Dearborn and Switzerland County.
Several from the Milan Aquatics put together impressive performances and that included the squad winning six different relay events, two each in three different age groups. In Boys 8U action, James Laws, Elias Howard, Isaiah Rowland and Levi Rohrig won the medley relay and Howard, Weston Johnson, Rowland and Xander Kramer earned top honors in the 100 freestyle relay. On the girls side, at 12U, Lindsay Franklin, Tracey Franklin, Lola Beiser and Ailey Jones were winners in the medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.
Kyle O’Neil, Logan Kramer, Landon Beiser and Justin Hicks won the Boys 14U medley relay and O’Neil, Beckett Jones, Landon Beiser and Kramer won the 200 freestyle relay.
Ross Lieland won three events for Milan and also picked up a second place finish in individual events and Tracey Franklin won three events with a runner-up spot. Also a three-event winner was O’Neil while single-event winners were Isaiah Rowland, Cooper Mutz, Elias Howard and Xander Kramer.
Results for Batesville were not provided by time of print. This meet concluded the summer swim season from a team standpoint but a select group of local individuals will continue to compete in order for a chance at participating in the USA Swimming Southeast Indiana Divisional Meet in August.
