Barbara Jean “Barb” Lucas

Barbara Jean “Barb” Lucas, age 64, of Moorefield, entered this life on July 13, 1959 in Madison. She was the loving daughter of the late John Ervin and Dorothy Louise (Andrew) Lucas. She was raised in Moorefield and was a 1977 graduate of the Switzerland County High School. Barb was raised and baptized in the Long Run Baptist Church. Barb was formerly employed for the Vevay License Branch and for Peoples Trust in Vevay. Barb was employed from 1990-2022 for Farm Service Agency. She was an active 4-H leader and served on the board for the Switzerland County 4-H Fair. In 2021, Barb was selected to be Mrs. Switzerland County due to her dedication to the 4-H program. She was always there to lend a helping hand to others in her community. Barb also volunteered for the local food banks in Switzerland County. Barb was a former member of the Vevay Gamma Chi of Tri Kappa and served as past treasurer. Barb enjoyed spending time with her family and loved being a Granny to her grandchildren. In her spare-time, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and baking, as well as, singing. Everything she did was with a smile and could always find a reason to laugh. Barb’s acts of kindness will be forever treasured and missed by her community. Barb died on February 28, 2024, at the UC Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Survivors: sons, Andy (Shelby) Lucas and Willie Self; grandchildren, Ava Self, Adeleigh Lucas, Case Lucas, Weston Self and Archer King; brothers, James William (Sharon) Lucas and John Robert “Bob” (Debi) Lucas and other relatives.

Visitation was held from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on March 3, 2024 and from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on March 4, 2024, Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry St., Vevay, IN. 47043. Funeral was held at 11:00 a.m. on March 4, 2024, at funeral home. Interment was at Vevay Cemetery.
