Clova (Slone) Sparks
Clova (Slone) Sparks of Milan passed away at the age of 96 at Ripley Crossing in Milan on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. Born in Knott County, Kentucky on Monday, June 21, 1926, daughter of the late Nicholas and Susanne (Reynolds) Slone. Clova married her loving husband, Lawrence Sparks, on August 8, 1958 and he preceded her in death on January 19, 1999. Clova was a former member of the Hindman Baptist Church in Hindman, Kentucky. Clova was a homemaker and a teacher at Caney Creek in Pippa Passes, Kentucky.
She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, working puzzles, reading, and ceramics. Clova was known to make the best apple pies and waffles.
Clova leaves behind to cherish her memories, her sons Tim Sparks (Amy Bressert) of Milan, Terry Sparks (Sue) of Grandville, Michigan, and Greg Sparks (Sharla Houston) of Moores Hill; daughters Cathy Profitt (Doug) of Raceland, Kentucky, Pat Littleton (Ross) of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, and Gwen Carson (Jeff) of Sunman; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Sparks, brothers Sydney Slone and Emil Slone, and sisters Juanita Boorman, Chelsea Slone, Allyene Johnson, Joyce Cornett and Mary Dobson.
Family and friends may gather in remembering Clova from 10 AM-12 PM on Monday, April 10, 2023, at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. A service will immediately follow with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Burial will take place in New Craven Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in honor of Clova to the Ripley Crossing Activity Fund, Margaret Mary Hospice, and Milan Fire Department.
